UK passport fees: what you pay now and every price rise since 2023

A standard adult UK passport now costs £102 online or £115.50 by paper form. A child passport costs £66.50 online or £80. These fees took effect on 8 April 2026. It was the fourth rise in a row, after increases in February 2023, April 2024 and April 2025. The government says the fees cover its costs and make no profit.

  • British nationals born on or before 2 September 1929 can get or renew a passport for free. They still pay for a fast-track passport or the 54-page version. [1]
  • There is no refund if you cancel an application or are found not to be entitled to a passport. [1]
  • The same change raised the one-day Premium service from £222 to £239.50. Applying online from overseas rose from £108 to £116.50 for adults and from £70 to £75.50 for children. [2]
  • On 10 April 2025 the adult online fee rose from £88.50 to £94.50 and the child online fee from £57.50 to £61.50. Postal fees rose from £100 to £107 for adults and from £69 to £74 for children. [3]
